MyLink is a new FM receiver — smaller, more versatile, and less expensive.
Even with the best hearing instruments, some hearing-impaired people notice difficulty hearing in certain situations such as using a telephone, watching television, during a business meeting, or in a restaurant. Using a wireless communication system (FM system) makes communication in all these difficult situations much easier.
A wireless communication system (FM system) for hearing instruments has a transmitter, which picks up the voice from the speaker and sends it via radio waves (wireless) directly to the tiny radio (FM) receiver, which is connected to the personal hearing instrument.
The MyLink is a new small FM receiver that is connected to a neckloop, worn visibly around the neck or invisibly under clothing. It also connects with hearing aids through the T-coil, a circuit already in most behind the ear hearing aids and in many in-the-ear aids.
Some of the advantages of the MyLink are:
Our initial trials have been encouraging. Some of our clients, who have worn FM systems for years, find it much less trouble with good sound quality. Because there are no cords to connect to the hearing aid or tiny receivers to clip onto the hearing aids, we expect that there will be fewer repairs or losses of the tiny MyLink receivers.
