Recycle your hearing aid batteries
Siemens has introduced two new hearing aids:
The Intuis is available in all styles and designed to be affordable while the CENTRA Active, part of the Centra Line is the most advanced hearing aid produced by Siemens.
The CENTRA Active is loaded with features. This small behind the ear hearing aid connects to a receiver (speaker) directly in the canal by a thin wire in the tubing. The other aid on the market with a receiver in the canal is the Oticon Delta which has been quite successful.
The CENTRA Active is rechargeable with size 13 batteries, larger than rechargeable batteries used in the ReSound Pulse, with an estimated time required before recharge of 24 to 40 hours. Using rechargeable batteries is good for the environment and should save money in consumables.
The CENTRA Active will work automatically but also has a remote control which can override the automatic adjustments if they are not right for you.
Part of being “active” is being out in wet weather, plus sweating on the hearing aid during hot weather or exercise. And of course everyone has issues with wax and moisture in the ear canal. The housing of the CENTRA Active is coated with a nanocoating that repels water as well as a gortex cover to protect the microphones. The speaker is protected by a waxguard that seals out moisture and wax.
Other features of the CENTRA Active include:
The INTUIS introduces comfort technology to the basic category of hearing solutions with:
Directional microphone technology in most models which helps in background noise;
We have tried a number of Intuis models and overall the clients have been happy with the results. Our favourite model to date has been the Intuis S, a small behind the ear model with a larger size 13 battery that can be used with an open fitting or a standard earmold. This is very helpful if a client likes the 'open-fit' hearing aids but is close to the border of not being able to wear it if the hearing loss becomes worse. This hearing aid has no volume control but has a push button to change between 4 programs which can give four volume settings.
